BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – With how instrumental the city of Birmingham was in the return of UAB football, it is only fitting that No. 6 on the countdown of UAB's top 10 moments from 2017 is going a perfect 6-0 at home.
The return game vs. Alabama A&M was obviously well documented, but along with that it was the dramatic victories in the middle of the season that will go down as some of the more memorable UAB victories in program history.
UAB improved to 2-0 at home with a 30-23 victory over Coastal Carolina on Sept. 16. The drama started the following game when, wearing special uniforms for Children's Harbor, the Blazers blocked a last second field goal to defeat Louisiana Tech for the first time in program history, 23-22.
The following week, UAB outlasted Middle Tennessee 25-23 and halted the Blue Raiders' game-winning drive to win its third-consecutive one score game at home and improved to 4-0 at Legion Field.
UAB's fifth win at home was a resounding 52-21 victory over Rice to earn bowl eligibility, and the Blazers capped the perfect home record with a 28-7 triumph over UTEP on Senior Day.
Not only did UAB stay perfect at home, but the fans of Birmingham helped the Blazers lead Conference USA in attendance average a crowd 26,375 per game.
The Blazers are two weeks away from playing Ohio University in the 2017 Bahamas Bowl. Click here to purchase tickets.
