The Return’s Top 10: No. 10 – UAB House Party with Sam Hunt

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Kicking off the top 10 moments of UAB's historic 2017 football season brings us back to the start of the season when country music megastar and Blazer football alum Sam Hunt played a free concert in Birmingham's Uptown Entertainment District.
As part of celebrating the Blazers' triumphant return to the field after more than 1,000 days, Hunt, along with Maren Morris and Ryan Follese put on a memorable show for more than 25,000 fans the night before UAB's 38-7 victory over Alabama A&M.
Coach Bill Clark addressed the crowd following the opening acts and introduced Hunt onto stage for what was an unforgettable way to kick off the 2017 season.
Along with putting on an epic performance, Hunt toured UAB's new Football Operations Center and addressed the team prior to his show, along with holding a press conference where he was introduced to five-year-old Bennett Williams who donated a $1 bill to help reinstate the program.

Following his show on Friday night, Hunt was the celebrity guest picker on College Gameday that Saturday in Atlanta and sported his UAB hat on set while picking winners for the opening weekend of college football.
ESPN's Marty Smith also interviewed Hunt at the Football Operations Center that Friday for his UAB football feature which aired on Marty Smith's America on Sept. 5.
Hunt was a member of the UAB football team from 2006-07 and was the team's starting quarterback in 2007. He threw for 1,905 yards and 10 touchdowns that season.
The Blazers are headed to the Bahamas to play Ohio University in the 2017 Bahamas Bowl on Dec. 22 at 11:30 a.m. CST on ESPN. It is UAB's second bowl game in program history.
