BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB football team will play at the University of Georgia on Sept. 11, 2021, as announced by Director of Athletics Mark Ingram on Thursday.
The contest is UAB's third non-conference game announced for the 2021 season as the Blazers will also play at Tulane on Sept. 25 and at home against Liberty on Oct. 2.
UAB and Georgia have met two times in program history with the most recent coming back on Sept. 16, 2006 at UGA. The teams played three seasons earlier on Oct. 25, 2003 in Athens when the Bulldogs narrowly defeated the Blazers, 16-13. UGA has won both meetings between the two schools.
The game with Georgia in 2021 marks the fourth SEC opponent UAB has scheduled upon its reinstatement. The Blazers are set to play at Florida this season, followed by trips to Texas A&M in 2018 and Tennessee in 2019.
"Playing at the University of Georgia is an incredible opportunity for our team. It's also close in proximity to UAB so that our loyal fans can more easily travel to see the Blazers play," said Ingram. "We want to put together a schedule that creates excitement as our momentum continues to reach new heights, and playing at Georgia helps us do exactly that."
UAB is off this weekend before returning to Legion Field on Oct. 7 to host Louisiana Tech for Homecoming. Click here to purchase tickets.
