BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--The UAB cross country team travels to Tallahassee, Fla. on Friday to compete in the NCAA South Regional, hosted by Florida State at the Apalachee Regional Park. The women's 6K race is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. ET.
Along with UAB and host Florida State, 36 other teams will compete in this year's event, including Alabama, Alabama State, Auburn, Austin Peay, Belmont, Bethune-Cookman, Chattanooga, East Tennessee State, Florida, Florida A&M, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, Georgia, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Jacksonville, Jacksonville State, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Memphis, Mercer, Miami, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Mississippi Valley, North Florida, Samford, South Alabama, South Florida, Southern Miss, Tennessee, Tennessee Tech, Tennessee-Martin, Troy, UCF, and Vanderbilt.
Last time out, the Blazers ran at the Conference USA Championship, and finished fourth as a team with 149 points. Junior Elinor Kirk led the squad with a sixth-place finish, while senior Sarah Hudak finished in ninth place. Also finishing in the top-20 was junior Kate Brown.
Should anyone from UAB qualify in Friday's race, they will next run at the NCAA Championship in Louisville, Ky., hosted by Louisville on Saturday, Nov. 17 at Noon ET.
