BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--UAB's Sarah Hudakwas named Conference USA Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week, league officials announced on Tuesday. She earns the honor after taking her third straight victory of the season over the weekend at the Azalea City Classic in Mobile, Ala.
The Manchester, England native finished the 6K race with a personal best time of 21:53.50, five seconds ahead of the runner up. Hudak's previous personal record in the 6K was set at the 2011 NCAA South Regional. As a team, UAB finished in fourth place out of fifteen teams.
Last week, the graduate student, who is studying clinical nutrition, was honored by the conference for her victory in the 4K at the 2012 Auburn Invitational with a time of 14:20.9, another personal best.
She opened the season with a victory at the Crimson Tide Cross Country Kickoff, finishing the 3K race with a time of 10:47.52.
Up next, the UAB cross country team will travel to Chicago to run in Loyola University of Chicago's Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 29.
