HOUSTON--Three Blazers earned all-conference honors as the UAB cross country team finished sixth out of 12 teams at the C-USA Championship on Monday hosted by Rice.

“It was good to have three all-conference runners today,” head coach Tony Houchin said. “Conference USA is a tough conference.”

UAB’s Rhiannon Johns placed ninth individually with a 17:33.70 time, earning second-team all-conference accolades. Senior Kristina Vaughn crossed the line at 17:54.40 to finish 16th, and junior Sarah Hudak finished with a season-best time 18:04.10 to place 21st. Both earned third-team all-league honors.

The first 21 women to cross the finish line were named to the All-C-USA first (1-7), second (8-14) and third (15-21) teams.

SMU’s Silje Fjortoft won the individual meet title with a time of 16:06.80 to lead the Mustangs to the team title with 57 points. Tulsa placed second with 59 points and Rice rounded out the top three with 83 points.
