HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The UAB cross country team took the title at the Fleet Feet Sports/Earl Jacoby Memorial Saturday morning in Huntsville, Ala. The Blazers finished the 5K with a perfect score of 15 points, sweeping all top-six spots.

Sophomore Rhiannon Johns took first place overall with a time of 18:22. Junior Stephanie Gammon claimed the runner-up spot with a time of 18:52, while senior Kristina Olsen ran to a time of 19:05 to finish third.

The Blazers placed first out of 13 teams with a score of 15 points. Alabama State finished in second with 98 points, while Jacksonville State rounded out the top-three finishers with 121 points.

"It's a good feeling to see the first six spots wearing UAB," head coach Blake Boldon said. "We are improving from top to bottom, and we had some strong performances today."

Other top runners for the Blazers included sophomore Kristina Vaughn, who finished in fourth (19:11). Sophomore Colleen Standridge claimed a fifth-place finish (19:24), while sophomore Clara Cid rounded out the top-six finishers for the Blazers with a time of 19:35.

"We're still looking to have a spread of less than a minute between our runners, so we're still needing runners six and seven to step up," Boldon said. "Kristina Vaughn and Colleen Standridge had great runs today, and I was proud of Lauren Fayen's tenth-place finish overall and personal-best time of 19:54."

The Blazers will be back in action Sept. 18 at the Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
