BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB volleyball team has earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Volleyball Championship, as announced Sunday night on ESPNU.
UAB will travel to the NU Coliseum in Lincoln, Neb., for a first-round match against Missouri State, the champion of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. The Blazers and Bears will meet Friday at 4:30 p.m. CT. Full Story

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB volleyball team held its final practice in Birmingham Tuesday afternoon and will travel to Nebraska Wednesday as its NCAA Championship opening-round match nears.
UAB worked out on campus for about two hours as it prepares for a first-round match with Missouri State. The Blazers and Bears will meet Friday at 4:30 p.m. CT at the NU Coliseum on the campus of the University of Nebraska. Full Story

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The UAB volleyball team made a little history Friday night in one of the most historic venues for collegiate volleyball.
Playing at the NU Coliseum on the campus of the University of Nebraska, the Blazers earned the first NCAA tournament victory in program history with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-17) sweep of Missouri State in the first round of the 2008 NCAA Volleyball Championship. Full Story | Photos

LINCOLN, Neb -- The UAB volleyball team's postseason run came to an end Saturday with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-12) loss to No. 4 overall seed Nebraska in the second round of the 2008 NCAA Volleyball Championship.
Ivana Bozic finished with 10 kills to lead the Blazers' offensive attack, but it was not enough to overcome a powerful Nebraska team. The Huskers posted a .467 team hitting percentage and were able to string points together throughout the match. Full Story | Photos

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- UAB seniors Ivana Bozic and Nevena Stefanov have been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division I All-Midwest Region Team, as announced Wednesday by the AVCA.
Additionally, teammate and fellow senior Casey Dent was recognized as an honorable mention selection. Full Story

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The American Volleyball Coaches Association announced its Division I All-America teams Wednesday, and UAB seniors Ivana Bozic and Nevena Stefanov were recognized with honorable mention honors.
The duo, which combined to start 226 matches in four years at UAB, helped the Blazers to an historic season in 2008. UAB finished the campaign with a 27-8 record, advanced to the Conference USA Championship finals for the third straight season and earned an at-large berth into the NCAA tournament. Full Story

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The 2008 volleyball season was a record-setting one for UAB. From RPI rankings and winning percentage to tournament victories and multiple All-American honors, the Blazers accomplished things no other UAB volleyball team had ever accomplished.
Under the guidance of head coach Kerry Messersmith, a group of five seniors led the team to a 27-8 overall record, a second-place finish in Conference USA and a trip to the NCAA tournament. A postseason victory and a final RPI ranking of No. 22 sealed UAB's position among the top teams in the country. Full Story
