BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB volleyball team has earned the No. 2 seed in this week's Conference USA Championship and will play Friday at 5 p.m. at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse in Memphis.

The Blazers (23-5, 13-3 C-USA) have earned a first-round bye and will play Friday in the quarterfinals against the winner of Thursday's match between seventh-seeded Southern Miss and 10th-seeded Marshall.

Top-seeded Tulane along with third-seeded Rice and fourth-seeded Houston also earned first-round byes and will play Friday.

UAB has had success in recent conference tournaments. The Blazers have reached the championship match in each of the past two seasons and won the title in 2006 to advance to the NCAA Tournament.
