Becca Howard has played in all 115 sets for UAB this season

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- Becca Howard of the Blazer volleyball team was recently named UAB Student Athlete of the Week for excelling both on the court and in the classroom.
Howard, a junior, has maintained a 3.46 GPA as a business administration major with a minor in medical technology. The Tampa, Fla., native is a member of the Delta Epsilon Iota Academic Honor Society and has twice been named to the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll. She is also a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Council.
On the court, Howard has been a major factor as the Blazers have won 11 of their last 12 matches and posted a league-best record of 10-1 at home.
The setter has competed in all 115 sets this season, averaging 3.69 assists and 1.97 digs per set. Howard has also laced 17 service aces overall, 16 of which have come in conference play. She ranks eighth in the league with 0.28 aces per set.
The UAB volleyball team closes out the 2012 regular season with a pair of road contests this weekend, playing at UCF on Friday and Southern Miss on Sunday.
