UAB Volleyball Fans,
I would like to draw your attention to an important event coming up on Nov. 3rd. For our home match against East Carolina, we will be holding a very special event called "Dig for the Cure". The Dig for the Cure is an event currently run by 21 Division I Volleyball programs around the country in order to raise money to find a cure for Breast Cancer. This is an event that we wanted to hold because the cause is very important to this staff. My mother is a five-year survivor of Breast Cancer and our assistant Brooks' mother is a two-year survivor. We have set a personal goal of raising $2,000 as a team and we would love your support. For more information, please contact Brooks Keisler at (205) 934-6003 or email him at email@example.com. We look forward to your support in helping this great cause.
Last week was big turnaround for this team and a very big step for our program. We started the week off with a 3-1 victory over Mississippi Valley State. We began that match out a little slow but fought through the third and fourth games to secure the win. Friday night against Southern Miss, I believe that we put three really solid games together. Southern Miss is a team that has won some big matches this season on the road so it was great to see our girls dig deep and sweep a good team. On Sunday against Central Florida, we maintained our intensity from Friday night. During our second 3-0 sweep of the weekend, we saw contributions from every member of our team. It is nice to see our Blazers come around and play together as a team and not as a group of individuals.
This week we will journey on our longest trip of the season as we head to New Orleans on Friday to face Tulane and then travel to El Paso to play UTEP on Sunday. This is a pivotal weekend as teams are fighting for seeds for the upcoming conference tournament. Tulane is currently in a tie for 3rd in the conference standings and UTEP is a team that is tough to beat on the road so this looks to be an exciting weekend for UAB Volleyball.
Again, thank you for your support of Blazer Volleyball and until next week,
