BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The UAB volleyball team (5-13, 0-6 in Conference USA)
fell to South Florida (13-4, 6-1 in Conference USA) 15-8, 15-5, 15-11 at
Bartow Arena.
Sophomore outside hitter Michelle Collier led the match in kills, posting a
double-double with 16 kills and 15 digs for South Florida. Senior setter
Melanie Mueller led the match in assists, recording 45 for South Florida.
UAB was led by freshman outside hitter/middle blocker Martina Shields who
had 11 kills, hit for .320 and had four digs. Senior setter Heather
Dempsey posted 27 assists for the Blazers.
South Florida returns home to face Conference USA rival DePaul Friday at 7
p.m. (ET). UAB next travels to Cincinnati, Ohio for a C-USA match against
the Bearcats Friday at 7 p.m.
