The UAB volleyball team (5-12, 0-5 in Conference USA) fell to Houston (13-3, 6-0 in Conference USA) in four games, 12-15, 15-10, 15-9, 15-1 in Conference USA action in Bartow Arena.

Freshman outside hitter Martina Shields had 16 kills and 13 digs to lead the Blazers and senior setter Heather Dempsey added 28 assists. Senior outside hitter Jennifer Wittenburg had 30 kills and 19 digs to lead the Cougars.

UAB returns to Bartow Arena Saturday to face Conference USA rival South Florida at 7p.m.
