Coaches Corner With Kerry Messersmith

Oct. 4, 2007

Hey guys!

Sorry it's been a little while since I've been able to reach out to all of you, things have been really hectic for us.

Let me start by thanking all of you who came out last Sunday to watch us play Memphis. That was hands down the best crowd we've had in my time here and it made me so proud to be a part of this program.

I thought the girls played great against Memphis. They came out and played with the emotion I've been waiting to see all year. I think the crowd played a big role in our intensity, but the girls also did a great job feeding off of one another. We blocked tremendously against a very good offensive team.

Last weekend's win was great, but it was just one win, and we need to use that momentum we built against Memphis and continue to build on it this weekend against UCF and Southern Miss.

One last comment on last week, and that is to send a special congratulations to Nevena Stefanov who was named the Conference USA Setter of the Week for her play in our matches against Mercer and Memphis. It is great having Nevena back out there and it's also great to see us passing better, which makes Nevena's job a lot easier.

I hope you all can make it out to Bartow Arena to cheer us on this weekend. We play UCF at 7 p.m. Friday night and then Southern Miss at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Until next time,

Go Blazers!
