Becca Howard Named C-USA Setter Of The Week

Senior setter Becca Howard dished out 152 assists, including a career-high 54 against JSU this weekend.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- UAB’s Becca Howard was named the Conference USA Setter of the Week for her performance in the UAB/Samford Volleyball Challenge this weekend, the league announced Monday. This is Howard’s first career C-USA Setter of the Week honor.

Howard averaged 11.69 assists per set and dished out a total of 152 during opening weekend play to earn UAB/Samford Volleyball Challenge All-Tournament honors. She guided the Blazers to a 3-1 record during tournament action. 

The 5-9 senior set a career-high with 54 assists against Jacksonville State in the final match of the tournament Saturday. Howard had a well-rounded weekend as she nabbed 31 digs, which was the second-most on the team and landed five aces.

The Blazers will remain at home for a mid-week matchup with Samford on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 7:00 pm CT in Bartow Arena.
