MB Sam Serley hit a career-best .867 for the match

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. --- Seniors Sam Serley and Kate Morrell combined to put away 27 kills as the UAB volleyball team hit a season-best .339 in a 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 26-24) sweep of Jacksonville State inside Mackey Arena on Saturday afternoon.
UAB (6-8) was led by Serley's nearly perfect outing on the attack. The Nashville, Tenn., product spiked 13 kills on 15 attacks without committing an error, registering a career-best attacking percentage of .867. She added five total blocks, featuring three solo stuffs en route to being named to the Active Ankle All-Tournament team.
Morrell, in the victory, tallied one more kill than Serley, posting a match-best 14, while adding four digs to her stat line.
Also showcasing a nice contest offensively was Ashley Ricks, who in three sets of game action, hitting at a .353 clip (6k-0e-17ta).
Defensively, Ally Slaughter topped the Blazers in digs, corralling a season-high 14, while Rachel Fairbanks posted nine digs of her own. Setters Alison Woods and Becca Howard combined for 36 assists and 17 digs for the Blazers, which return to Bartow Arena next Friday at 7 p.m. CT against the Houston Cougars to start Conference USA action.
The Blazers were nearly error free on the night, committing just eight as a club on 115 total attacks. In fact, UAB made just two miscues in the first frame and only one in the third and final stanza.
With the loss, Jacksonville State fell to 6-8 on the season and was led by Emily Rutherford's 11-kill, six-dig effort in the loss.
