Junior Bethanie Thomas notched seven kills for a career-high .353 attack percentage at UAB.

Four different Blazers hit over .400 in the match to propel UAB to the win against the Lady Governors. Sophomore Sam Skinner hit a career-high clip of .536 tallying 16 kills and just one error. Junior Sara Rishell connected on nine kills for the Green and Gold for a clip of .438.
Juniors Kiriana Hirini and Bethanie Thomas notched seven kills apiece. Hirini, who hit. 400 today, has been extremely accurate so far this season leading the conference in attack percentage. Thomas hit a career-high .353 since joining the Blazers.
UAB and Austin Peay remained close in the first set until a couple of Lady Governor errors gave the Blazers a 16-12 lead. They held onto the lead to take the first set win 25-18 on .481 hitting as a team.
In the second set, UAB had a 22-18 lead but Austin Peay struck back to within one point. A kill by Thomas pushed the lead back to two (24-22), then Rishell finished off the set with a kill for a 25-23 win.
The Blazers came out strong in the third and final set, jumping out to a 6-2 lead. They continued to stretch the lead during the set to eventually take a 25-16 win over the Lady Governors.
It was a solid performance all-around for UAB as they held Austin Peay to just .218 hitting on the morning. Rishell had five blocks and senior Rachel Fairbanks picked up 10 digs. Senior Becca Howard ran the efficient offense, dishing out 36 assists.
UAB will be back in action later today when they face Virginia Tech at 5:30 p.m. CT in the Blazers' final match of the Middle Tennessee Invitational.
