BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UAB graduate student Elinor Kirk was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team for District 4, CoSIDA announced on Thursday.
The honor marks the second-straight day Kirk has picked up an academic honor. She was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team on Wednesday and picked up the CoSIDA honor on Thursday. She’s one of 10 student-athletes in Division I to be honored from District 4.
She totaled a 4.0 GPA in communications as a graduate student, all while balancing her illustrious career on the track. She’s fresh off two wins at the C-USA Championships in Houston, where she claimed record-setting wins in the 1,500-meter run and 5,000-meter run. She was then named C-USA Track Performer of the Meet following her success at the championships.
The All-American holds the nation’s fastest time in the 10,000-meter run, a 32:17.05, and ninth-fastest time in the 5K, both of which she’ll run in at the NCAA East Prelims in Jacksonville, Fla., which begin Thursday.
