The Blazers will open their outdoor season on Saturday at the Battle of I-65 in Mobile hosted by South Alabama.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB track and field team is back in action this weekend, opening the 2014 outdoor season at the Battle of I-65 at South Alabama on Saturday.
Saturday’s events are slated to begin at 11:45 a.m. with field events beginning the day’s competition. Hurdles are set to begin at 1 p.m. and running events are scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
The Blazers are looking to build off a successful indoor season where they finished third at the Conference USA Indoor Championships with 71.50 points, just a point and a half off UTSA in second. Individually, UAB had three student-athletes medal – Elinor Kirk, Kyana White and Neal Tisher. Kirk is running for national titles this weekend in Albuquerque, while White and Tisher, along with the rest of the Blazers, will start the outdoor season in Mobile.
Saturday’s meet is the first of seven scheduled for UAB this season, including the Conference USA Outdoor Championships, which will be held May 15-18 in Houston. The Blazers will also take part in the Alabama Relays (March 21-22), Florida Relays (April 3-5), Stanford Invite (April 4-5), War Eagle Invite (April 18-19), Mt. Sac Relays (April 18-19) and Mississippi State Invite (May 3).
Live stats from the meet will not be available, but results will be posted at www.UABsports.com following the day’s action.
