Graduate student Elinor Kirk will compete at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday in the 3,000m and 5,000m runs.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Fresh off a record-setting performance at the Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championships two weeks ago, UAB distance runner Elinor Kirk will compete at the 2014 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, which are slated to begin Friday in Albuquerque, N.M.
Kirk qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in both the 3,000 and 5,000-meter runs. Her 5,000m time of 15:44.38, which she ran at the Husky Classic in Seattle on Feb. 14, ranks as the sixth-best time nationally.
The Swansea, Wales, native qualified for the 3,000m run with a time of 9:10.40, which she ran at the Conference USA Championships, breaking the C-USA and Birmingham CrossPlex records.
Kirk will run in the 5,000m first on Friday night at 8:45 p.m. MT, and will compete for the 3,000m championship on Saturday at 7:55 p.m. MT.
