Elinor Kirk has qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the 3,000 and 5,000-meter runs.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- UAB distance runner Elinor Kirk, fresh off a record-setting performance at last weekend's Conference USA's Indoor Track and Field Championships, has officially been named as a participant for the upcoming NCAA Division I Championships.
The NCAA announced the field of all participants Tuesday night. The 2014 NCAA Track and Field Championships will be held March 14-15 at Albuquerque, N.M.
Kirk, from Swansea, Wales, has qualified in both the 3,000 and 5,000-meter runs. Kirk has the sixth-best time nationally in the 5,000m this indoor season, a time of 15:44.38 she ran at the Husky Classic in Seattle on Feb. 14. She is the fourth fastest among those entered in the 5k for the NCAA. Abbey D'Agostino of Dartmouth has the fastest time (15:40.55) run this season in the 5k.
Kirk owns a best time this season in the 3,000 of 9:10.40, recorded last weekend at the C-USA Indoor meet in Birmingham.
Kirk won three races at the conference indoor, taking first place in the 3,000 meters, 5,000 meters and mile run. She was awarded the High Point Scorer of the Meet for the second consecutive year.
At the NCAA Indoor Championships, the 5,000m will be run on Friday, March 14 at 8:45 p.m. MT and the 3,000m will be contested on Saturday, March 15 at 7:55 p.m. MT.
