“Neal jumped really well today and qualified for NCAA Finals,” head coach Kurt Thomas said. “Those were the goals coming in and she executed them very well.”
The Mobile, Ala. native in medical school at UAB topped out at 4.20m (13-9 ¼) to move on to the NCAA Finals, coming up June 11-14.
Tisher had no trouble through all her progressions, topping the 3.75m, 3.90m, 4.05m, 4.15m and 4.20m to secure her spot to the finals.
The event was scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. ET/11 a.m. CT, and after a lengthy weather delay, all competitors completed the competition around 4:30 p.m. CT.
“It was a big jumping day for so many girls to jump high to qualify, and we had a long weather delay,” Thomas said. “Neal handled that very well, came back out and took some good jumps to qualify. She's been jumping very well, did it again today, and we're excited about her chances in Eugene.”
UAB distance runners Kirk and Kate Brown will round out UAB’s competition at the NCAA East Prelims in Saturday’s 5,000-meter run, which is slated for an 8:45 p.m. ET/7:45 p.m. CT start from Jacksonville.
