Shakima Knox paced UAB in the 100-meter, picking up a seventh-place finish as UAB completed day one of the Tennessee Relays on Friday.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The UAB track and field team completed action at the Tennessee Relays on Friday. The Blazers will continue with limited action on Saturday in Knoxville, while split-squad competition will complete in Athens at the Spec Towns Invitational.
UAB took part in the 100-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles, 400-meter dash, 400-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash and triple jump on Friday.
In the 100-meter hurdles, Autumnn Burnett earned UAB’s highest finish with a time of 14.14 seconds to place seventh. Jessica Shelley ran a 14.30 to finish 13th, while Renay Ransaw’s 14.98 put her 25th.
Kyana White picked up UAB’s highest individual finish on the day with a fourth-place result in the 400-meter dash after running a 55.33. In the hurdles, Burnett finished seventh with a 1:03.56.
Six Blazers ran in the 200-meter dash, led by Watson who ran a 24.27 to finish 10th and White who finished 16th with a 24.52. Knox came in 22nd with a 24.71, while Kandiss Briggs finished 28th with a time of 25.11. Breona Humphrey ran a 26.12 while Kendra Gipson ran a 26.42.
Action from the Tennessee Relays will continue at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
