Track & Field Sets Records at Samford Multi

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Neal Tisher tied her own UAB record in the pole vault and Sarah Livett broke a UAB freshman record to lead the UAB track and field team to completion of the Samford Multi & Invite Saturday at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

Tisher leaped to a 4.00m height (13-1 ½) which ties her school record that she set this year. Livett ran a 9:48.57 in the 3,000-meter run to break the UAB freshman record of 9:52.56 set by Rhiannon Johns in 2009. Lauren Scott placed 21st in the run with a 10:26.22.

In the 60-meter dash finals, Shakima Knox finished fourth in section A with a run of 7.60 seconds, and Alexis Bates came in third with a run of 7.62.

Jessica Shelley ran an 8.67 second time in the 60-meter hurdles to pick up a top-five finish, and Kyana White picked up a top-10 finish in the 400-meter dash with a run of 56.29 seconds.

Renay Ransaw and Kelli Smith both competed in the long jump with Ransaw finishing 15th with a 5.45m (17-10 ¾) jump, while Smith came in 21st with a 5.36m (17-7) jump. Kendra Gipson finished 13th in the triple jump event with an 11.71m (38-5) leap.



In the 800-meter run, Jenna Wesley ran a 2:20.27 to finish 30th, while Kara Woods finished 69th with a 2:31.01. Kandiss Briggs finished 35th in the 400-meter dash, while Lindsay Miller came in 41st in the 1-mile run with a time of 5:27.85.

The Blazers will be back in action Feb. 14 at the Cupid Classic at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
