Feb. 2, 2013
"After a great day one, day two didn't go as well overall," head coach Kurt Thomas said. "We did have some very nice performances though and some things to build on."
In the 3000m, Blazer newcomer Lauren Scott ran a personal best 10:11.72 while freshman Hannah Coffin set a personal best in the mile.
"Lauren Scott surpassed her time in the 3k by 47 seconds, which is a massive improvement," Thomas said. "Kyana White ran a very well 400m, and finally broke through like we've been training. She set a new personal best by almost a second and a half. Lytrice also set a personal best in the 400m and is set to really break through as well. Hannah ran another tough race and is coming along well."
Sophomore Kendra Gipson finished the triple jump with a best distance of 11.62m (38-01.50).
Senior Rachel Harley ran the 800m with a time of 2:16.20.
"Lots of our girls came back from hard races last night," Thomas said. "It's a good learning curve to get ready for the CUSA Championships where we have to run prelims and finals, so this was great preparation."
Up next, UAB returns to Birmingham to compete in the Samford Multi & Invite, Feb. 8-9 at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
