Josh West enters his second year in Birmingham as the Director of Operations for the UAB track & field and cross country teams.
In his first year West was a volunteer coach working with the middle and long distance runners. While expanding his role by taking on administrative duties he will continue to focus his energy on the cross country team and assist in several areas during the track season.
Prior to coming to UAB, West spent the previous two years working with the women's soccer and basketball teams at the University of Florida. A strength and conditioning specialist, he was responsible for helping to improve the athletic capabilities of his teams. He was a part of the 2007 UF women's soccer team that was both the Southeastern Conference regular season and tournament champion.
West graduated from the University of Florida in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in exercise physiology. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in exercise science at UAB. He is an NSCA-certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and became a USATF Level I certified coach in 2008. West hails from Indian Rocks Beach, Fla., where he graduated from Largo High School.
West is married to the former Leigh Armstrong of Rockledge, Fla.
