UAB Women's Tennis Receives C-USA Sport Academic Award

UAB's Rachel Daniell was named to the C-USA All-Academic Team this season.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The UAB women's tennis team was recognized by the Conference USA Office on Monday for having the highest team GPA of any women's tennis team in the league for the 2013-14 academic year. 

Boasting a 3.694 team GPA, the UAB women's tennis team is one of 18 squads recognized by Conference USA for outstanding academic success. 

"I will reiterate what I said all year about this team,"head coach Mark Tjia said. "This is a great group of girls who are motivated, ambitious and driven. I could not be more proud to be their coach."

The Sport Academic Award is given each season to the team in each conference-sponsored sport with the highest GPA for the academic year. Rice produced three different teams with the highest GPA for their respective sports, while Middle Tennessee, Southern Miss, Tulane and Tulsa had two apiece.
