BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- UAB women's tennis player Rachel Daniell has been named to the 2014 Conference USA Women's Tennis All-Academic Team, the league office announced on Wednesday.
The honor marks the second-straight season Daniell has been selected to the C-USA All-Academic Team. The Douglasville, Ga. native, who boasts a 3.91 GPA in biology, is one just six players from the 16-team league to garner the award.
"Rachel perfectly embodies the term 'student-athlete,'" head coach Mark Tjia said. "She plays at No. 1 singles and doubles for us and is one of our team leaders. She always prioritizes her busy life and continues to excel on the court and in the classroom. She is the type of person that every coach wants on their team."
Daniell, who has totaled seven singles wins and eight doubles victories this season, is one of just two Blazers all-time to place on the C-USA All-Academic Team. Former UAB player Jenny Cape garnered the award three times during her career.
