BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- In conjunction with a nationwide initiative of the United States Tennis Association (USTA), the UAB women's tennis team has designated its match against Southern Miss on Sunday, Feb. 21 as Campus Kids' Day.

The Blazers will host the Golden Eagles on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT on campus at the 11th Avenue South tennis courts with games and prizes throughout the match.

A free lunch will be provided for all children in eighth grade or younger, and the first 50 children in that age group will receive a free t-shirt. The event will feature contests between singles and doubles action along with autographed UAB women's tennis posters and an appearance by Blaze, the UAB mascot.

"We are excited to welcome a bunch of kids to campus on Sunday," UAB head coach Krissy Hall said. "We think it will be a fun day for everyone and a great way to introduce kids in the area to college tennis."

The USTA Campus Kids Days are designed to expose more junior players, their parents and coaches to college tennis varsity team matches. Kids do not have to be USTA members to participate in the events, but sign-up sheets for USTA membership will be available.
