BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB women's tennis team looks to continue its strong start to the 2013 season when it hosts in-state foe Jacksonville State on Friday at George Ward Park. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT.
The Blazers, who are 3-0 on the year, host a Jacksonville State team that is 1-1 overall on the season after splitting a pair of season-opening matches on Jan. 25-26.
The Gamecocks ousted William Carey University, 5-2, to open the season before falling to Nicholls State, 5-2, on Jan. 26.
UAB enters the contest riding high after three dominating performances against Kennesaw State, Georgia Southern and Mercer last weekend. The Blazers have yet to lose a doubles court this season and have lost just four singles contests in three matches.
Blazer veterans Rachel Daniell and Isabel Fernandez are both undefeated in singles play this season, while newcomers Elaine Simon and Amy Lowther are a combined 5-1 on the singles courts.
Following Friday's clash with JSU, the Green and Gold hit the road for the first time with a trip to Murfreesboro, Tenn., to take on Middle Tennessee Sunday at 2:30 p.m. CT.
