NORFOLK, Va. -- UAB's women's tennis team won at all three doubles courts, but could not overcome fifth-seeded Louisiana Tech's strong singles play as the Blazers fell, 4-1, Thursday in the second round of the 2014 Conference USA Women's Tennis Championship.

With the loss, the No. 12 seeded Blazers conclude their season with a 9-15 overall record. Louisiana Tech advances to play the four seed Marshall on Friday at 2 p.m. ET.

UAB began Thursday's match in impressive fashion with wins at each of the three doubles courts. The Blazer tandem of Rachel Daniell and Elaine Simon downed LA Tech's Joanna Nalborska and Jazmin Britos, 8-5, while UAB's team of Pardis Kianoush and Paula Castro took an 8-5 victory against the duo of Alexandra Starkova and Melanie Urvoy at the No. 2 court.

The Blazer combo of Amy Lowther and Catherine Ragon sealed UAB's sweep of the doubles courts with an 8-6 triumph over Louisiana Tech's tandem of Taly Merker and Manoela Chiacchio at the third position.

Up 1-0, UAB could not withstand LA Tech's surge in singles as the Lady Techsters reeled off four-straight wins to clinch the match. Nalborska delivered the match-clincher for Louisiana Tech with a 6-2, 6-3 victory against Lowther.
