TAMPA, Fla. – The UAB women’s tennis team closed a two-match road trip Saturday afternoon with a 4-0 loss at USF from the USF Varsity Tennis Complex.
USF opened an early 1-0 advantage by winning the doubles point by claiming two of the three matches. Nicole Dzenga and Ana Roman Dominguez turned in a 6-0 win over Natalie Voss and Taylor Factor at No. 3, while Vera Bessonova and Brooke Lashway clinched the point with a 6-1 victory over Marlene Herrmann and Hana Sisirak at No. 2.
Martinez gave the Bulls a 2-0 lead after she defeated Voss 6-0, 6-1 in singles action at No. 6. Vanja Klaric followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Factor at No. 5, and Bessonova won the clinching point after she bested Reghan Lynch 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3.
UAB returns to action Saturday, March 26 when the Blazers host in-state foes Alabama State at 11 a.m. and Alabama A&M at 2 p.m. from George Ward Park.
