Sand volleyball plays its final road matches of the season Saturday.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB sand volleyball team will take on LSU and Tulane on Saturday in Baton Rouge, La. The Blazers will play their final road matches of the season.
UAB (3-7) and LSU (5-9) will square off at 10 a.m. CT to start the day, and then the Blazers will play Tulane (5-3) at 1 p.m. CT.
This will be the first meeting between UAB and LSU on the sand courts in program history as the Tigers are in their first season. The Blazers and Green Wave will play for the second time this season, with Tulane winning the first meeting, 5-0 on April 4.
The Blazers are playing their first dual match since April 4. The team played in the Tulane Pelican Classic pairs tournament, where No. 1 duo of Kiriana Hirini and Bethanie Thomas won the Upper Division bracket and No. 3 pair Rachel Fairbanks and Sara Rishell took the win in the Lower Division bracket.
Most recently, UAB competed in the Siesta on Fiesta Key Tournament. The pairs tournament featured pool play. Lindsay Simmons and Emma Schroer made it to the final of their bracket, but fell to FIU in the championship match.
UAB is led by Hirini and Thomas with a 10-4 record at the top position and Fairbanks and Rishell also sport at 10-4 record on the season.
