MONROE, La. - The UAB sand volleyball team fell to ULM, 3-2, on Thursday afternoon. The Blazers will prepare to play two dual matches in the Tulane Pelican Classic Friday.

UAB (2-6) earned wins at the No. 3 and No. 5 positions against ULM (3-9). The duo of Sara Rishell and Rachel Fairbanks topped Blanca Ocana and Hope Pawlik at the No. 3 court, 26-24, 21-14. It was the fifth-straight win for the pair.

The Blazers also scored a victory from Amber Treace and Ally Slaughter at No. 5. They teamed up to top ULM's Celine Flores and Kaitlyn Shearer, 21-18, 21-12.

No. 1 pair Kiriana Hirini and Bethanie Thomas dropped just their second match of the season to Zuzana Markova and Marcela Araya, 21-16, 21-17. Sam Serley and Alison Woods fell to Michelle McNamee and Hadley Swartz, 21-16, 21-16.

The Warhawks secured the match with a win at the No. 4 position. UAB's Becca Howard and Lindsay Simmons lost to Alannah Cullum and Rachel Arnason, 21-12, 21-19.

UAB will play its second of three-straight days of matches at the Tulane Pelican Classic. The Blazers are slated to play Tulane at 11 a.m. CT and Webber International at 4:30 p.m. CT.
