UAB To Play First Fall Games This Weekend

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB softball team will host a doubleheader with Wallace State Community College a 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Friday at George Park Field, before hosting a six-team fall tournament there on Saturday.

This will be the first time this season that the Blazers have played a game. After practicing for four full weeks, head coach Marla Townsend is excited play five games in a two-day period

"We're really excited to get on the field this weekend and compete against some quality teams," Townsend said. "I feel like we have a special group of women who really want this to be the best season the program has had."

Saturday, UAB will play Jefferson State Community College at 10 a.m., followed by Alabama Southern Community College at 12 p.m., before finishing the weekend playing Bevill State Community College at 4 p.m. All of the Blazers' games will be played on field six.

"We are really fortunate to be playing this group of teams this year," Townsend said.

UAB's regular season will begin in February.
