BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The UAB softball team took time out from its busy daily schedule this week to serve a meal and help with other chores at the Birmingham Ronald McDonald House.
In addition to serving a meal, all 19 softball student-athletes and the team's coaches, also assisted with cleaning the house's kitchen, wiping down the kids' area/computer area, cleaning the outdoor playground, stuffing envelopes, as well as playing with the kids.
"We always look forward to providing meals at the Ronald McDonald House and try to do so as often as we can," Blazers' head coach Marla Townsend said. "The Birmingham community has always been so supportive of us and we take pride in giving back.
"The Ronald McDonald House is an amazing operation and helps so many families. It is an honor for UAB Softball to participate in helping parents and their children's focus on what is important to them."
