BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- UAB softball junior pitcher Lannah Campbell has been named one of 12 recipients of the 2013 Conference USA Spring Spirit of Service Award, the league office announced on Tuesday.

The C-USA Spirit of Service Award is designed to recognize the community service efforts of the league's student-athletes, based upon significant community service, good academic standing and participation in his or her sport.

Campbell, who boasts a 3.0 GPA in exercise science at UAB, has been heavily involved in the community during her time as a Blazer. Campbell has spent time reading to children at local elementary schools and has also visited the Alabama Children's Hospital and the VA Hospital in Birmingham on numerous occassions. She has visited Bryant Elementary School and assisted with the Glen Iris Elementary School Fall Festival in 2012, among other community service projects.

The Satsuma, Ala., native helped lead the Blazers to an unprecedented run in 2013 with a program-best 40-19 record, UAB's first softball Conference USA regular season championship and a berth in the NCAA Super Regional -- the program's first-ever Super Regional appearance.

A 2013 All-Conference USA First-Team selection and NFCA Second Team Mideast Region pick, Campbell was a key contributor on last year's squad. She led a trio of UAB pitchers with a 14-6 overall record and a 1.96 ERA, while she struck out a team-high 180 batters.
