BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--UAB softball senior Whitney Fletcherbwas tabbed to the NFCA All-Region (Mideast) First Team, the organization announced on Thursday.

Juniors Lannah Campbell and Kristen McGrath and freshman Caitlin Attfield each received second-team Mideast honors.

Fletcher is the third Blazer to be named to first-team all-region, as Mandy Lowman picked up the honor in 2010 and 2012. Kayla Orr was also a 2010 selection.

This marks the first season that UAB has placed three on the all-region second team. Current Blazer Leigh Streetman picked up a second team honor in 2011 while Lauren Webster was honored in 2010.

On the season, Fletcher, who was named to the All-Conference USA First Team, has posted the highest batting average on the team in C-USA action at .406. The Decatur, Ala., native also leads the team in triples, trying the single-season record with five, and her nine doubles also leads the team.

In the circle, Campbell leads the pitching staff in saves with six, and posted a 7-1 record during conference play. Campbell is 12-5 on the season with an ERA of 1.78 in a team-high 145.2 innings. The All-C-USA First Team selection has struck out 156 batters, including 76 during the league slate.

McGrath, a second-team all conference selection, leads the team in home runs with 12, two away from the single-season record of 14, which she set in 2012. The Tampa, Fla., native is slugging .506, third-highest on the team, and leads in RBI with 39.

Conference USA Freshman of the Year and a first team all-conference selection, Attfield leads the team at the plate with a .367 batting average and 62 hits. The Niagara Falls, N.Y. native also leads the team in stolen bases with 23 steals in 33 attempts, which places her in both UAB single-season and UAB career top-10 lists.
