BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB softball team (19-21, 3-3 Conference USA) will face fourth-ranked Alabama (34-1, 14-1 Southeastern Conference) Tuesday at George Ward Park Field No. 6 at 7 p.m.
UAB is coming off a 1-0 victory over South Florida Sunday in Tampa, Fla. The Blazers took two games out of the three game series over the weekend. UAB won the second contest of a doubleheader with the Bulls 1-0 Saturday and lost the first game 1-0.
Sophomore outfielder Cliffanie Engram currently leads the conference in runs (23), hits (44), doubles (10), home runs (6) and RBI (34).
Alabama, currently on a seven-game winning streak, is coming off a 8-0 shutout of Kentucky in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The Tide swept the three-game series, winning the first game of the doubleheader Saturday 6-2 and taking the second contest 12-6.
This will be the second meeting between the schools and the first appearance by Alabama at George Ward Park. Last season, Alabama topped UAB 7-1 in Tuscaloosa.
The two teams will square off again Wednesday at the Crimson Tide Softball Complex in Tuscaloosa at 7 p.m.
