After only totaling four home runs through the first 13 games, the Blazers have hit 17 in their last 11 games dating back to the C-USA opener at East Carolina on March 8. UAB has hit at least two home runs in the same game on six different occasions - Feb. 15 vs. Iowa, March 1 vs. Western Carolina, March 11 vs. WKU, March 15 vs. FAU, March 18 at Jacksonville State, March 20 vs. Murray State - five games in which UAB won.

Senior Kristen McGrath hit homers in back-to-back-to-back games March 9-12. McGrath homered in the series finale at ECU, and launched long balls against WKU and Ball State. Her twin sister, Megan, has five in the last week, including two in the series against FAU and two in UAB’s 21-2 win at Jacksonville State. Caitlin Attfield has shots in back-to-back games, both three-run blasts (3/18 at Jacksonville State, 3/20 vs. Murray State).

Scouting the Competition
FIU enters the weekend series having played only six games outside the state of Florida. FIU will play just its seventh true road game on Saturday to begin the three-game set.

The Panthers are 0-3 against common UAB opponents this season, dropping contests to Ball State (8-6) and McNeese State twice (9-1 and 5-3).

Stephanie Texeira, Krystal Garcia, Gabby Spallone, Rebekah Sanchez and Aleima Lopez lead FIU offensively. Texeira has the team-lead in home runs and RBI with six and 23, while Garcia and Spallone each have four long balls. FIU has 38 stolen bases thus far, led by Bre Kaye who is 11-for-12. Sanchez checks in at 6-for-6 on the base paths.
