Davis Is The UAB Student-Athlete Of The Week

Junior outfielder Hayley Davis recorded two doubles at Mississippi State.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Junior outfielder Hayley Davis of the softball team is the UAB Student-Athlete of the Week, as announced on Wednesday. The UAB Student-Athlete of the Week recognizes Blazer student-athletes who excel on and off their respective fields of completion.

Davis has started 10 of the past 11 games in left field for the UAB softball team. The Tarpon Springs, Fla. Native has 11 hits on the season and is one of two Blazers to have a triple on the year. In the squad’s win at Mississippi State, Davis clubbed two doubles to lead the team to a 5-3 victory over the then-unbeaten Bulldogs.

Off the diamond, Davis is a standout in the classroom, as well. The communications studies major currently owns a 3.44 cumulative GPA. Davis has been named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll each of the past two years for her academic efforts.

Davis and the UAB softball team host Murray State on Thursday afternoon. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m. at the UAB Softball Field.
