Series Information
The Gamecocks and Blazers have met 29 times dating back to 2000, with JSU holding the all-time series lead, 16-13. UAB has won three out of the last five, including a 7-4 decision last season, and will be making the short trek to Jacksonville for the first time since 2011.

Streetman Named C-USA Pitcher of the Week
Senior Leigh Streetman was named C-USA Pitcher of the Week on Monday, March 17. She tossed 32.1 innings of work, going 5-0 with a 1.52 ERA. She tossed a complete game in each contest she started and also threw one shutout. In UAB’s five games last week, Streetman allowed just seven earned runs, walked six and struck out 25.

UAB Goes Yard
After only totaling four home runs through the first 13 games, the Blazers have hit nine in their last nine games dating back to the C-USA opener at East Carolina on March 8. UAB has hit two home runs in the same game on four different occasions - Feb. 15 vs. Iowa, March 1 vs. Western Carolina, March 11 vs. WKU, March 15 vs. FAU.

Senior Kristen McGrath hit homers in three consecutive games March 9-12. McGrath homered in the series finale at ECU, and launched long balls against WKU and Ball State. Her twin sister, Megan, has three in the last week, including two in the series against FAU.

Scouting the Competition
Jacksonville State enters the midweek contest with a 17-5 overall record and perfect 4-0 home record. The Gamecocks have won seven in a row and have a 1-2 record against common UAB opponents this season (9-1 and 8-0 loss to Mississippi State and 8-4 win over Ball State).

UAB Tops FAU, 4-2, To Claim C-USA Series
Megan McGrath launched her second home run of UAB’s Conference USA home-opening series to lift the Blazers to a 4-2 win over the Florida Atlantic Owls on Sunday at the UAB Softball Field as UAB won the series, 2-1.

The senior hit the go-ahead home run in the Blazers’ sixth inning, her third home run of the homestand and second in as many days, to give the Blazers the series deciding victory.

The Owls outhit UAB in all three games, including totaling six hits on Sunday to the Blazers’ four, but UAB left just three on base and took advantage of run-scoring opportunities. Kristen McGrath finished the day 2-for-3, while her sister Megan, and Ashley Johnson both added hits.

Amy Dennis finished with one RBI while Megan McGrath had three to lead the Blazers. Senior Leigh Streetman picked up her fifth-straight win to improve to 11-6 on the season after tossing her third-straight complete game. She struck out four Owls, walked just one and allowed two runs.
