Kristen McGrath and Mary Warren Named to Getterman Classic All-Tournament Team
Freshman Mary Warren had a breakout weekend in Waco for UAB and was rewarded for her efforts by being named to the Getterman Classic All-Tournament Team. Warren batted at a clip of .500 over five games and drove in six UAB runs. She picked up her first-career home run on Saturday with a shot to right field in UAB’s 6-1 win over Iowa.
Senior Kristen McGrath moved into a tie for first on UAB’s career all-time home run list with 32 after her three-run shot to left field on Sunday in UAB’s 8-6 loss to Lipscomb. The senior from Tampa, Fla., batted .333 at the Getterman Classic and picked up five hits, three doubles and five RBI.
Attfield and Warren Go Yard for First Time
Warren put UAB on the board in the fifth inning against Iowa with a home run to right field. The shot for the freshman marked the first of her young UAB career.
With two outs in the ninth inning and two on against the Hawkeyes, sophomore Caitlin Attfield, the reigning C-USA Freshman of the Year, sent a deep three-run shot to center field for her first-career home run.
