UAB began its run production in the first inning, as senior center fielder Whitney Fletcher singled to left center, and was advanced to second when senior catcher Anna Kimbrell reached on a muffed throw by the Hornet third baseman. A sacrifice fly to right field by junior designated hitter Kristen McGrath brought the first run home.

In the top of the second inning, junior first baseman Megan McGrath walked, and was advanced to second by a sacrifice bunt by senior right fielder Chandler Orr. The Blazers were up 4-0 going into the top of the third inning, when senior third baseman Kate Armstrong doubled down the left field line. A M.
