Liney, Hanks Garner Conference Recognition

Johanna Liney was named to the All Conference Third Team.

IRVING, Texas--UAB women's soccer sophomore Johanna Liney and freshman Paige Hanks earned spots on the Conference USA All-Conference Third Team and All-Freshman Team, respectively, Conference USA officials announced Tuesday.

Liney, a native of Marietta, Ga., led the Blazers with six goals scored, three assists, 15 points, and 39 shot attempts. Liney was also named UAB Student-Athlete of the Week during the 2012 campaign.

Hanks, who hails from Garland, Texas, ranked second on the team with four goals, two assists, 10 points, and 26 shot attempts. Hanks also scored the game winner in the team's 1-0 victory against Conference USA foe Southern Miss on Sept. 21.

Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year honors went to Memphis' Christabel Oduro, while Marissa Diggs of UCF was named Defensive Player of the Year, and Midfielder of the Year honors were given to Colorado College's Jessica Ayers. Rice's Holly Hargreaves was named Freshman of the Year. Colorado College's Geoff Bennett was named Coach of the Year.
