BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB women’s soccer team will play its third straight match at West Campus Field on Sunday, Oct. 13 when it hosts FIU. The Blazers host the Panthers at 1 p.m.
Leading The Way
UAB is currently in first place in the East Division of Conference USA. The Blazers have seven points through its first four C-USA matches.
Currently, UAB has one of the top offensive attacks in the conference. The Blazers rank second in goals scored (30) and goals per game (2.31). In addition, the Green and Gold are third in points (80) and fourth in assists (20) and assists per game (1.54).
Individually, sophomore midfielder Paige Hanks ranks sixth in the conference in points (13) and 10th in points per game (1.00). Hanks and redshirt freshman forward Kasey Johnson are tied for ninth in C-USA in goals scored (5).
Scoring In Bunches
The UAB women’s soccer team already has scored the most goals it has in a single season since 2010. UAB has tallied 30 goals through 13 matches, for an average of 2.31 goals per game.
UAB has scored at least three goals in a single game on seven occasions in 2013. That marks the most matches with at least three goals scored since 2005. Also, the team only had four games in the last two years with at least three goals scored.
