Hey Blazer Fans!!!! After a long weekend in Florida the team was looking forward to playing at home. Not only were we at home, but we also started conference play against two extremely tough teams, Southern Miss and UCF. Since we didn't have the best non-conference record we were excited to go into Conference USA with a clean slate. At that point, everyone's record was 0-0.

The practices leading up to our first conference game, against Southern Miss, were extremely productive. Every Tuesday we usually start practice off with a little fitness. This week was no different, but due the weather and field conditions we strictly ran at both practice and weights. Even though we didn't practice with the ball I thought these two conditioning workouts brought our team together. Whenever we have to run is the time that we encourage each other the most, and connect the most as a team. Encouragement and communication was a common theme last week at practice.

We really came to play Friday night! Everyone was hyped and excited to play our first conference game in front of our fans. We played extremely well keeping the ball away from Southern Miss for the majority of the game. We had a bit of difficulty in the final third with finding the back of the net, but in the 53rd minute freshmen Paige Hanks was clutch, scoring her 2nd goal of the season! Coming out of the first conference game with a win it felt good to be 1-0 and tied for first place!

Our game on Sunday against the 6th ranked team in the country, UCF, didn't go as well as Friday's game. They were a good team with some good players and we are looking forward to possibly playing them again in the conference tournament later on this season. We have two more conference home games next weekend against Marshall and ECU! We hope to see everyone this weekend!!

Go Blazers!!!!!
