Ranked Eighth In Central Region
UAB is currently ranked eighth in the NSCAA/Continental Tire Central Region poll, as announced on Tuesday, Sept. 17. This marks the team’s highest appearance in the regional poll this season.
The Blazers are off to their best start in recent years. The squad started the year off with a 5-1-0 record, its best record through six matches since 2009 when the Blazers won its first six games. In addition, prior to Sunday’s setback to Alabama, the women’s team won five consecutive matches, its longest winning streak in four seasons.
With a victory against Coastal Carolina, the Blazers raised their win count to six. That matches the most wins in a single season under head coach Harold Warren.
The team has already tripled the amount of victories they had last season, when they won two contests. In addition, the Blazers have registered 22 goals in eight games. In 2012, the Green and Gold scored 18 goals in 19 games.
