BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--The UAB women's soccer team will finish off a competitive non-conference slate on the road this weekend, facing the Hatters of Stetson and the Owls of Florida Atlantic this Friday and Sunday, respectively. UAB and Stetson will kick off at 3 p.m. CT in DeLand, Fla., while the match against FAU is scheduled for 10 a.m. CT in Boca Raton, Fla.
Last Friday, UAB (0-6) was in Oxford, Miss., facing SEC-foe Ole Miss. Sophomore midfielder Johanna Liney scored UAB's only goal in the 48th minute of the 4-1 loss. Liney is one of three Blazers that have found the back of the net so far this season.
SCOUTING THE HATTERS
Stetson (2-4) earned its second home win of the season last week, defeating Florida Atlantic, 5-2. Five different Hatters found the back of the net throughout the match. Freshman midfielder Danielle Hurme scored the eventual game winner in the 54th minute. Friday's match will mark the first meeting between UAB and Stetson.
SCOUTING THE OWLS
Florida Atlantic (1-5) played at Stetson in the last of five-straight road matches last week, and lost 5-2. The Owls struck first in the match with freshman forward Taylor Sorrels hitting the back of the net in the fourth minute before the squad fell behind 3-1. Junior midfielder Marisa Russo scored FAU's final goal of the game in the 58th minute. Sunday's match will mark the first meeting between UAB and FAU.
After three weeks on the road, UAB will return to West Campus Field to kick off the Conference USA portion of the schedule, first hosting Southern Miss on Friday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. CT.
