BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- Kayla Wilbourn, Juliana Sebastian and Sydney Snodgrass have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the UAB women’s golf team, head coach Kim Wilcox announced on Wednesday.
“The combination of these three will give the team the depth we need to go to the next level,” Wilcox said. “We have only one senior, Caitlin Watts, who is graduating in the spring. Losing a player of her caliber is difficult, however the incoming freshman are definitely up for the task. That in addition to our other returnees will make a truly competitive team.”
Wilbourn joins the Blazers by way of Cairo High School in Cairo, Ga. Most recently, Wilbourn finished No.2 in the Class AAAA Georgia State Championships this past May. Wilbourn has competed in several tournaments during her junior career, finishing No. 13 in the SJGT UGAAutotrader.com Invitational in October. She also finished No. 2 at the 2013 Forest Heights Junior Classic and the 2013 Furman Junior Classic.
Sebastian, a native of Spring Valley High School in Columbia, S.C., has played in several tournaments over the last few years. She finished as the individual champion at the IJGT Florida Swing at Harmony Golf Preserve and has had four top-10 finishes in 2013. In October, Sebastian was selected to play in the South Carolina North/South All-Star Girls Golf Match.
Snodgrass, who attends Ritchie County High School in Harrisville, W.Va., has helped her team to several region and state championships during her high school career. Earlier this month at Stonewall Resort, Snodgrass was recognized by the West Virginia Golf Association as both the Girls Player of the Year and the Women's Player of the Year. She is currently the West Virginia Girls Golf Champion and the West Virginia Women’s Champion.
